Greenfingers return to their Lancashire Roots

14th Feb 2018

A leading North West commercial horticultural and grounds maintenance company is heading back to its roots with a relocation of their head office to Blackburn. Greenfingers, an award-winning grounds maintenance specialist, was established in the Lancashire town in 1996 and is heading back there this month after agreeing terms on an office in The Business Development Centre, Office 20, Eanam Wharf, Blackburn, Lancashire, BB1 5BL

Although Greenfingers still had a depot in Blackburn, their head office had been in Crewe for some time. Having expanded rapidly in recent years, the firm needed to find new office space and it was decided that having a central base in Blackburn would allow them the best opportunities to continue to grow and expand.

Greenfingers provide public and privately owned organisations a comprehensive range of grounds maintenance services including grass cutting and maintenance, planting and maintaining borders and shrubberies, hedge & shrub pruning, weed control services, environmental hygiene, leaf clearance & litter picking and sports field maintenance.  Alongside this, the company also offer specialist services including soft and hard landscaping and arboriculture.

The company’s clients range from local authorities, housing associations, schools and colleges to private retail, industrial and leisure green spaces.

The last time Greenfingers had their head office in Blackburn the firm was a much smaller outfit; employing only a small number of staff and with only a handful of clients. Now 25 years later, Greenfingers has grown to become one of the largest ground maintenance companies in the UK, employing over 200 staff and fulfilling grounds maintenance contracts over thousands of sites across the country.

Steve Higginbottom, Managing Director at Greenfingers, commented:

Lancashire is the home of Greenfingers and it feels like the time is right to return to our roots. Blackburn is a great place and is ideal for our business for many reasons. One of these is the Lancashire people – we’re firm believers in investing in our workforce and employing local people and from experience, we know that staff from Blackburn and the surrounding area are hardworking and committed.

We believe that being based in Blackburn will provide us with the base we require to continue to build on our recent success and we’re looking forward to continuing to grow and expand further over the coming months and years.”
