Great Places team find their green fingers on away day!

26th Apr 2019

The management team from Great Places Housing Group undertook a new challenge this month in an away day with a distinctly green fingered theme! The day, which was organised by the Greenfingers head office team, saw 30 members of the Great Places team don their gardening gloves and get to work planting up the borders at one of their sites in Chorlton, Greater Manchester.

The format of the away day saw two sets of 15 Great Places team members get stuck into planting up the flower beds and borders throughout the Chorlton site –providing a full morning’s hard graft! To assist on the day, Greenfingers had two representatives onsite, helping to oversee, facilitate and also pass on their knowledge and skills.

In preparation for the day, the Greenfingers team prepped all of the grounds – ensuring all shrubbery & moss was removed and the areas were clear of debris ready for planting. We also provided all the materials and plants used.

Christopher Barlow, Technical Officer (Asbestos & Water Hygiene) at Great Places Housing Group commented:

“I would like to compliment all your staff involved in making this day possible. The two engineers present on the day were also magnificent. From passing on their knowledge, assisting with the works and completing the clean and clear up, we really could not have asked for more.

All the Great Places staff had an enjoyable morning with each and every one of us getting our hands dirty! The flower beds look far more pleasing to the eye with the bark finishing off the beds lovely. We can’t wait to see the flowers and shrubs grow and mature in the coming weeks and months.”

The away day was clearly a big success – not only being enjoyed by the Great Places team, but also allowing them to get stuck in and meet the residents – many of whom have complimented the work that resulted from the day.
